LAPCU is equally committed to protecting our member’s privacy. You can be confident that your financial privacy is a priority of this credit union. LAPCU is required by law to give you this privacy notice to explain how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information. This notice also includes information about the parties who receive personal and sometimes nonpublic information for LAPCU as we conduct the business of the credit union. Information we collect and disclose about you:
LAPCU collects nonpublic personal information about you from the following services:
- Information LAPCU receives from you on applications and other forms.
- Information about your transactions with LAPCU, our affiliates, or others.
- Information LAPCU receives from a reporting agency.
- Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on an application from your current or past employers or from other institutions where you conduct business.
Parties who receive information from us:
LAPCU may disclose all the information we collect, as described above to provide member’s competitive products and services:
- Financial Service providers, such as insurance companies, mortgage service companies, and financial institutions with whom LAPCU has a joint marketing agreement.
- Non-Financial Companies, such as consumer reporting agencies, data processors, check/share draft printers, financial statement publishers, and governmental agencies.
In order to conduct the business of the credit union, LAPCU may disclose nonpublic personal information about you under the circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of the credit union, and to follow your instructions as you authorize to protect the security of your financial records.
To protect our member’s privacy, LAPCU only works with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protection and limit the use of information we provide. LAPCU does not permit these companies to sell the information we provide to other third parties.

If you terminate your membership with LAPCU, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as may be permitted or required by law.

LAPCU restricts access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who have a specific business purpose in utilizing our data. LAPCU employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. LAPCU maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard your nonpublic personal information.
What you can do to help protect your privacy:
LAPCU is committed to protecting the privacy of its members. Members can help by following these simple guidelines:
- Protect your account numbers, plastic card numbers, PIN (personal identification number), and/or passwords. Never keep your PIN with your card, which can provide free access to your accounts if your card is stolen or lost.
- Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, social security numbers, etc to other persons. If someone calls you explaining the call is on behalf of the credit union and asks for your account number, you should be aware. The best action is to state that you will return the call to the credit union. Official credit union staffs have access to your information and will not ask for it.
- Keep your information with LAPCU current. It is important that LAPCU has current information in how to reach you. If we detect potentially fraudulent or unauthorized activity or use of an account, we will attempt to contact you immediately. If your address or phone number changes, please let us know. Member Identification Policy:
Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. When you apply for membership at LAPCU, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask for your driver’s license or other form of photo identification.
